Elvis fans, you’re going to love this interview with Music photo archivist Michael Ochs. Ochs headed the publicity departments of Columbia, Shelter and ABC Records in the ’60s and ‘70.
In the words of Spinner.com, Ochs possesses one of the largest stores of Elvis pictures this side of Graceland. Click through the link above to read the fascinating interview with Ochs – it’s great stuff no self-respecting fan of the King will want to miss out on.
Elvis fans have one thing in common (besides their love of all things King, of course) – they love to stand out in a crowd! And if they can stand out AND proclaim their love of the King, all the better. Whether you love Elvis or just love hot fashion, these purses should have you feeling a hunk-a, hunk-a burning love.
Wow. I sang that well.
Click through each purse to take a better look. They’re all hotties.
Click through to see more – they have, like a gazillion. I’d post more of them, but I’m smack in the middle of a sneeze-a-thon and have rendered myself worthless. I’ve sneezed 32 times in the past hour. 33.
The series of art prints that feature the likenesses of Marilyn Monroe, Humphry Bogart, Elvis Presley, James Dean, etc defy description. I want to cover every wall in our house with them.
These Elvis & The Beatles Collectible Salt and Pepper Shakers would make any Elvis and Beatles fan twist, shout, and generally just rock it out. Click the image or the link to take a closer look. I believe the web site also has matching mugs – at least they did at one time! I’m afraid I was distracted this time by these adorable salt and pepper shakers. Like a lot of people, my mom always collected S&P shakers. These would be a deliciously original addition to such a collection!
This is one of my favorite Elvis songs – def in the top 3. I could listen to it 100 times a day and never get tired of it.
There’s a great write up about the King of Rock and Roll on CNN Showbiz, you’ll probably want to read it when you get a chance. It includes one of the greatest quotes about Elvis ever:
“Elvis didn’t die. The body did.” It was said right after Elvis died 30 years ago by Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis Presley’s manager and friend. I wonder if he knew that he’d be remembered so fondly and so well 30 years later. I wonder if he realized that teenagers in 2007 would still know the words to Elvis Presley songs.
Elvis fans, you might want to go ahead and put your TV on TV Land tonight and leave it there for about a month. August is Elvis month on TV Land – a channel that my television is never far from anyway. They’re paying tribute to the king and doing so in grand style! Elvis Month highlights include movies like “Speedway,” “Love Me Tender,” “Wild in Country,” “Fun in Acapulco,” “Roustabout,” “Girl Happy,” “Paradise Hawaiian Style,” “Easy Come, Easy Go,” “Live a Little Love a Little,” and specials like “Elvis & Me,” “Elvis: His Best Friends Remember,” Elvis concerts including the “1968 Comeback Special,” “Aloha from Hawaii,” and “Elvis on Tour!” There will be a different movie or special everyday in August.
The channel aired “Speedway a few days ago.” I hadn’t seen it in two forevers – I’d forgotten how cute Nancy Sinatra was in this movie – she and the big E looked amazing together. I recently read that during the making of the movie, Priscilla Presley was pregnant with Lisa Marie…okay, that much I knew. What I didn’t know is that Nancy Sinatra gave her a baby shower. Ahhhh, cute and sweet.
Can you believe it’s been 30 years since we lost Elvis?! I guess everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing when news of his death broke. He was one of the greatest entertainers ever and I’m not sure there’ll ever be another one like him.
By the time September rolls around, my cats will know every song Elvis ever sang and every line he ever uttered. It’ll be Elvis month in our household as well as on TV Land…so watch for plenty of Elvis to spill over on the blog this month!
I’ve always had a thing for Andy Warhol art – I love the randomness of it all! The work above is actually one I’d never seen before – and I like it the more I look at it. Warhol and Presley – what a combination.
