Below are some remarkable drawings of celebrities by Pablo Lobato – the famous Argentinian artist.  Outstanding!  It’s amazing how he captured them with just a few lines.  My favorites are probably Madonna and Julia Roberts.  I would love to see Lobato print his work on tees, canvas totes, mugs, and so on.  I’d want two of each and Julia on everything.

Too  cute.  Mattel knows that there are plenty of us adults who gleefully collect Barbie dolls.  They’ve always given us a wonderful selection of Dolls of the World, I Love Lucy dolls (LOVE them!), and other beauties we simply must have, whatever the cost.

They’re at it again.

According to the NY Times:

Mattel plans to come out with versions of Barbie and Ken as the colorful characters from the popular series Mad Men.

The dolls are part of a premium-price collectors’ series for adults that Mattel calls the Barbie Fashion Model Collection. Although there have been Barbies and Kens based on other TV series, among them “I Love Lucy” and “The X-Files,” the dolls will be the first licensed line for that collection, Mattel says, with a suggested retail price of $74.95 each. Mattel is licensing rights to the characters from Lionsgate, the studio that produces “Mad Men” for the AMC cable channel. There will be 7,000 to 10,000 copies of each doll, to be sold in specialty stores and on two Web sites, amctv.com and barbiecollector.com. The characters to become dolls are Don Draper, the show’s leading man; his wife, Betty; his colleague at the Sterling Cooper agency, Roger Sterling; and Joan Holloway, the agency’s office manager who was Roger’s mistress.

Here’s some really interesting news: According to the LA Times, CBS Films is working on a big screen adaptation of the classic Western television show “Gunsmoke.”  I SO hope this pans out, not only are westerns always great entertainment, Gunsmoke is an all-time favorite.  Can you imagine the fun they’d have casting festus?!  Steve Carrel, perhaps?

Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds have emerged as the top contenders for the role of Matt Dillon. Ryan Reynolds and his real life love, Scarlett Johansson would be perfect co-stars if she were to be cast as Miss Kitty to his Matt Dillon.  However, sources indicate that, at the moment, Brad Pitt, is the front runner.

On the 1955 show, Dillon is the Western hero charged with maintaining law and order in a period Kansas town filled with colorful vagrants, misfits and desperadoes. He carries on in these adventures with the help of town physician Doc Adams and tavern owner Miss Kitty Russell.

Gregory Poirier, who wrote “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” has written a draft of the “Gunsmoke”  script, and the studio is said to like it very much.   I’ll let you know more details when I get my eager little hands on them.

My husband and I went to see Sandra Bullock’s new movie, The Blind Side, last night.  She’s one of my favorite actresses – so if she’s in it, I’m there.  This was probably her best performance ever and was one of my favorite Sandra Bullock movies… heck, it was one of my favorite  movies, period.

I love for a movie to have a great time – and this one most certainly did.  I also love for a movie to touch my emotions and move them.  The Blind Side moved me the way Michael Oher moves members of the opposing team!

Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw are flawless as Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy.   Sandra Bullock is better than ever, in a role that could easily have been overplayed, overdone, and overcooked.  She delivers a perfectly understated, dead on, wonderful performance.   I didn’t know what to expect from Country superstar Tim McGraw, but he isn’t Country superstar Tim McGraw in this movie… he’s actor Tim McGraw, who also happens to sing.  The casting department took a big chance in casting him in this role and he didn’t let them down one bit.  He nailed it.  As a fan, I was thrilled.

Young Jae Head (Hancock) is a scene stealer in every sense of the word as the Tuohy’s youngest child.  He is absolutely adorable and provides many of the film’s laughs.  Quinton Aaron (Michael Oher) is also outstanding in a role that he brought so much heart and soul to.  I can’t wait to see what’s next for this young man.

A lovely new face, British actress Lily Collins, plays the Touy’s daughter (Collins) in the film.   There’s something about this young lady that reminds me of another one of my favorite acttesses, Keira Knightley.  That – needless to say – could serve her very well!

You really have to see this wonderful movie – you’ll be so glad you did.

Josh Friedman, the creator behind Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (oh, how I loved that series), has gotten behind a new series for ABC.  Well, it’s more like a reboot than a new series.  It’s Charlie’s Angels and I’m hoping all goes as planned.  Leonard Goldberg, who worked with Aaron Spelling to produce the original series, and Drew Barrymore, who produced and starred in the movie versions are also involved.

If John Forsythe returned as the voice of Charlie, it’d just be icing on the cake.

I think a new Charlie’s Angels series would be a huge success, if the casting is spot on and they give it an ideal time slot (and leave it there!).   When FOX played “catch me if you can” with Terminator’s time slot, they doomed a great series.

Yes. Still bitter.

I’ll post more news about Charlie’s Angels when I get it.  Fingers crossed.

“THE BODYGUARD,” starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston will air this Friday, September 18, on TV LAND PRIME at 9PM/8PM. Check your local listings for the exact time in your area.

This romantic thriller marked beautiful Whitney Houston’s film debut. Costner plays an ex-secret service agent-turned-professional-bodyguard who never leaves anything up to chance, until he meets a pop superstar-turned-actress whose fabulous career takes a life threatening turn when she becomes the target of an obsessive fan.

Did you know?

The film was originally proposed in the mid-’70s, starring Diana Ross and Steve McQueen, but was rejected as “too controversial”.

Whitney Houston’s character Rachel Marron lives in the same mansion as the “horse’s head in the bed” mansion featured in “The Godfather” (1972).

Madonna was originally considered for the lead role of Rachel. The deal was called off informally after Madonna met with Costner backstage during her Truth or Dare tour. Costner congratulated her and called the show neat. Madonna made fun of his “neat” remark after he left.

“The Bodyguard” soundtrack became the first album to sell more than a million copies in a single week and won a Grammy for “Album of the Year.” To this day, “The Bodyguard” remains the best selling soundtrack of all time – outselling “Saturday Night Fever,” “Purple Rain” and “Grease.”

Here’s a little trivia I found fascinating. Ray Park plays “Snake Eyes” in GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. He played “Toad” in X-Men (2000) and was Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999).

Ray Park has won numerous championships and medals after falling in love with martial arts at the age of 7.

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra was one of those movies that my husband was more interested in than I was. In the same way he came with me to see The Proposal, I went with him to see GI Joe. Funny thing happened though – I absolutely LOVED this movie. It is hilarious and fiercely entertaining.

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra is one of those rare films where you don’t look away from the screen from opening credits to closing credits. There was killer action in every scene.

Afterward I thought, “Finally, another movie that was as entertaining as Star Trek.” I thought Transformers 2 was going to be but.. well, not quite.

Sienna Miller does a sensational job in GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra as bad girl/good girl Ana. I’ve seen her in a few other movies, and I just can’t get over how much she has grown as an actress. At this rate, I can’t wait to see her next movie – and I hope it’s a starring role.

She blew me away.

I was impressed with the rest of the cast as well. There were several fairly newcomers that I’d love to see more of: Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Channing Tatum (Duke), Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Rex), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Jonathan Pryce (US President – best known for his Pirates of the Caribbean role.).

Marlon Wayans is beyond hilarious and puts the steal in scene stealer.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, put your shoes on and head off for the theater. It’s a must see.
