There isn’t a more passionate group of fans than Gone With the Wind fans. Those of us who love the beauty of this movie, the characters, the actors/actresses, the music… well, everything about this larger than life movie… just can’t get enough of it.

A few of my favorite all-time movie characters are from this one movie: Prissy, Mammy, Scarlett, and (of course) Rhett Butler. I named a gorgeous German Shepherd Scarlett once and had a precious cat named Prissy who graced our home and lives for over 20 years.

The Gone With The Wind Sticky Notes Set Of 4 are a recent “online find” I’ve come across. I know there are a lot of other GWTW fanatics out there, so I thought I’d tell you about them!

Each sticky note pad measures 3′ wide and features a quote straight from the movie Gone With The Wind: ‘Don’t call me sugar.‘ ‘Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn.‘ ‘Fiddle-Dee-Dee.‘ ‘Sir you are no gentleman.‘

If only there were a Prissy one with, “I don’t know nothin’ bout birthin’ no babies!!!” Bless her.

Today I read yet another negative movie review for Fast & Furious.   This critic tore it up pretty good. The most positive thing they said was that Paul Walker (Brian) looked blankly cute.  I guess that’s good, right?

The thing is, I saw Fast & Furious Saturday night and liked it a lot.  I’ve said it before and I guess I’m about to say it again.  Too many peoople expect too much from movies, especially critics.

I’ve read at least 5 reviews that criticized the dialogue.  Hello?! Did they not see Vin Diesel on the movie poster?  Vin Diesel’s fans don’t go to movies for dialogue, we go for the action, the fun, and the excitement  – and once again we got what we wanted.

My only criticisms are minor:

1. I would have liked more “Letty” (Michelle Rodriguez) in the movie, I’m a fan of the actress and the character.   She brings a great deal of energy to her roles and would have brought more energy to the film, if she’d been allowed the luxury.   I hope to see Michelle in more movies. She’s woefully underused.
2. For whatever reasons, when movie makers want to flavor a film with  a taste of Latin, they do so without much tastefulness.      I’m not against sexiness, but come on.   A few scenes looked like they’d walked onto the set of a music video and were obviously thrown in for shock value.   They weren’t much of either.

But back to the positive.  The action in this movie is the kind that makes you lean forward and dash your eyes all over the screen, trying to take it all in.  I can only imagine how excited “automobile fanatics” get during this movie.  There are some pretty incredible cars in this movie.  I’m not a “car person” but even I was impressed.

Fun Fast & Furious Trivia:

• When Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez were hired for first movie in the series, The Fast and the Furious, neither even had a driver’s license!
• Jordana Brewster once dated Mark Wahlberg.
• Gal Gadot (Giselle) was Miss Israel while serving in the Israeli military.  That has to be a first.

If you want to have a fun time at the movies, see Fast & Furious.  If you want your brain to feel stimulated, see Duplicity (another movie I liked a lot).

Music superstar Taylor Dayne gives Chandler High Class of ‘88 a second chance to relive their senior prom, and makes it an unforgettable night. In the season finale, as the reunion comes to an end, the classmates decide to revive their high school tradition of having a sleepover on the football field the night before the prom. The excitement of the prom is building but with not enough guys to go around, the Chandler girls begin to wonder who will be asked to the prom and who will have to go stag. At the prom, Scott W., “The Skate Punk,” continues to struggle with his feelings for Maricela, “The Outcast,” and Andrew, “The Band Geek,” receives the surprise of his life from his high school crush. The class is shocked when singing sensation Taylor Dayne makes a surprise appearance and wows them with a performance. Finally, on the last day of the reunion, as the classmates pack their bags and say their tearful goodbyes, Tom, “The Jock,” and Kara, “The Homecoming Queen,” stay behind to make a decision that will change their lives forever.

One of the most gifted comedians ever, Jackie Gleason was born on this date in 1916.

Herbert John Gleason was born in New York City into a poor Irish-Catholic immigrant family living in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. His father, John Herbert Gleason, an insurance clerk, abandoned the family when Jackie was eight. His mother, Mae Kelly Gleason worked as a subway token booth agent and died when Jackie was only 16.

His only sibling, Clemence, died from tuberculosis when Jackie was 3.

As a teen, Jackie was very athletic – excelling in boxing and football. He was also very well known for being a snazzy dresser, having a sharp tongued sense of humor, and for having crazy skills around the pool table.

Jackie knew, from an early age, that he wanted to entertain people – especially if it meant making them laugh. He became very popular at vaudeville houses, carnivals, and amateur shows. He was also a very popular disc jockey. When he was 25, Jackie headed for Hollywood but, sadly, they didn’t seem to know quite what to do with him!

Finally in 1952, CBS saw the Jackie Gleason magic that would soon make television history. He was given his own television show, The Jackie Gleason Show. They paid him $10,000 per week, which made him one of the highest paid television stars of the day. CBS also built him a circular mansion in Peekskill, New York!

Jackie Gleason and CBS had a beautiful relationship for the next 18 years. How sweeeeeeet it was!

The Honeymooners was the shows most popular and beloved sketch. “To the moon, Alice” became a huge catch phrase all over the country!

The Honeymooners became a 30 minute comedy which stood on its own. While there were actually only 39 episodes, television history was made. In 1985, dozens of the old “Honeymooners” skits from the Gleason comedy-variety shows were re-edited and released as The Honeymooners: The Lost Episodes.

Jackie Gleason didn’t let his lack of box office success stand in his way – he simply moved to television and found more fame than many film stars ever knew. He did, however, leave a few very memorable performances in the movies.

In The Hustler (1961), he starred alongside Paul Newman as the legendary pool player Minnesota Fats, performing his own pool shots for the camera. The role earned him an Academy Award nomination.

One of my favorite Jackie Gleason movies was Papa’s Delicate Condition (1963). He was absolutely, positively perfect in this film. However, my favorite Jackie Gleason movie role would have to be Sheriff Buford T. Justice in the Burt Reynolds Smokey and the Bandit movies (1977, 1980, 1983). No one one earth could have played Sheriff Buford T. Justice except Jackie Gleason. No one!

He was also brilliant in Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962), in which he portrays Maish Rennick, a boxing manager caught between gambling debts to the mob and loyalty to a punch-drunk fighter.

Jackie also appeared in The Toy (1982), The Sting II (1983), Nothing in Common (1986), costarring Tom Hanks, and Izzy and Moe (a 1985 television movie that reunited him with Art Carney).

Jackie Gleason died of heart failure on June 24, 1987, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

As I’ve said before, my dad watched a lot of westerns (U.N.D.E.R.S.T.A.T.E.M.E.N.T.), and while I was growing up, I watched most of them with him. Even though I was (and am) 110 percent girly girl, I loved kicking back and getting lost in a western every bit as much as I loved watching One Life to Live with my mom during the afternoon (and that was a lot of love, truth be told).

So, needless to say, I’ve been waiting anxiously for Appaloosa for quite a while. I’m not sure if my beloved husband realizes it or not, but he gets to take me out to dinner and a movie tomorrow night. He can choose the restaurant. The movie’s been chosen.

Appaloosa is the movie adaptation of Robert B. Parker’s novel. It boasts an unbelievable all-star cast including Jeremy Irons, Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen, and Renée Zellweger.

Movie Synopsis From IMDB.com: Two friends hired to police a small town that is suffering under the rule of a rancher find their job complicated by the arrival of a young widow.

This western’s getting great reviews and I’m just hours away from loving every dusty second of it myself. On a full stomach.

There are artistically talented people, then there are people like Noel Cruz, the man who created the Angelina doll that recently sold on eBay (for a price that was almost as impressive as the doll, itself): £2,000!

“Scrubs” premieres on Labor Day with a 7-hour marathon on Monday, September 1 on a channel that’s welcome in my home anytime: TVLand. Sit back and let J.D., Turk, Elliot, Carla, Dr. Cox and the entire Sacred Heart Hospital staff keeps you in stitches. “Scrubs” is joining TV Land’s line-up in its regularly scheduled timeslot of 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) from Monday to Friday beginning Tuesday, September 2.

4:00 p.m.

“My First Day”

Dr. J.D. Dorian is one of Sacred Heart’s newest interns and on his first day he begins to doubt himself amidst the hospital mayhem, while his best friend Turk is an overly-confident surgical intern. Both J.D. and Turk are initially attracted to fellow intern Elliot, who turns out to be overly-competitive. Dr. Cox, Nurse Carla and Chief of Medicine Dr. Kelso watch the interns closely as they try hilariously to get through their first day.

4:30 p.m.

“Scrubs The Musical”

One of Sacred Heart’s newest patients experiences everything in the hospital as in a musical, and Elliot tries to figure out how to break it to J.D. that he can’t move in. Elsewhere Carla contemplates her working future.

5:00 p.m.

“My Mentor”

In an attempt to impress Dr. Cox, J.D. tries to convince a patient to stop smoking. Meanwhile Carla picks on Elliot for having a privileged upbringing, but Turk steps in to help smooth things over and ends up scoring a date with Carla.

5:30 p.m.

“My Old Lady”

J.D., Turk and Elliot each have elderly patients –all with different ailments. As Turk treats his hernia patient and Elliot treats her potential lupus patient, J.D. becomes attached to his patient who is in renal failure.

6:00 p.m.

“My Day Off”

J.D. becomes the patient in this episode when he is admitted for appendicitis. As Elliot examines him, J.D. has a first-hand experience with her cold bed-side manner, and later he requests that Turk not perform his operation which causes tension. Elsewhere in the hospital, Dr. Cox does everything he can to impress his mentor, the former Chief of Medicine, who is also a hospital patient.

6:30 p.m.

“My Catalyst”

Dr. Cox is out-shone by Dr. Kevin Casey (played by guest star Michael J. Fox), an obsessive compulsive surgeon with an extensive knowledge of obscure diseases, and J.D. begins to see him as a mentor. Meanwhile, the janitor gets some help with a garbage dilemma.

7:00 p.m.

“My Best Friend’s Wedding”

Turk & Carla’s wedding day finally arrives, but Turk is delayed by a demanding patient and J.D. does everything he can to mend his friendship with Elliot. This episode guest-stars Scott Foley and Freddy Rodriguez.

“My Life In Four Cameras”

After meeting a former writer for “Cheers,” JD imagines his life as the perfect sitcom with multiple cameras filming “life” in a boring hospital where everything ends well. Back in the “real world” Turk and Carla try to keep the spark alive in their love life, and Dr. Cox has second thoughts as he attempts to fire a friendly cafeteria employee.

“My Way Home”

With a “Wizard of Oz” twist, this episode finds J.D. trying to go home, Carla in search of the courage needed to become a parent, Turk looking for a heart donor and Elliot doubting her “brains” and ability to conduct a question and answer session.

“My Half Acre”

When J.D. meets and falls for Julie (played by Mandy Moore) he always ends up saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and looks to Elliot for some romantic direction. Elsewhere, Turk forms an air-band with the janitor and Carla helps Dr. Cox get in touch with his gentler side to help him bond with his son.

10:00 p.m.

“My Own Personal Hell”

J.D. and the entire staff are fed up with Keith, the perfect intern, whose personal relationship with Elliot ends up becoming common knowledge. Meanwhile Carla resorts to trickery to figure out if Turk is sterile and Dr. Cox develops an over-inflated ego when a magazine tags him as “The Best Doctor in the City.”

10:30 p.m.

“My Best Friend’s Baby’s Baby and My Baby’s Baby”

As Carla goes into labor, J.D. and Kim begin to doubt and debate their baby’s future and their future as couple. Already in parenthood, Jordon thinks Dr. Cox needs to be more protective of Jack.

Heath Ledger and Michelle William’s adorable little girl, Matilda, looks more and more like her dad every day. You could pick her out in a crowd!

Sadly, Heath’s will was outdated (understandably – most people that young never think they’re going to die) and provisions had not been made for Matilda. Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell all donated their earnings from The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus to Matilda. All three actors played a version of Heath’s character in the movie. He was working on the movie when he died – so these three actors stepped in to portray his character at different times in his life.

It’s amazing, to me, that they’re donating their salary from the movie to Matilda. Big, big props for that.
