One of the biggest mysteries surrounding James Dean is the question of his sexuality. I guess it all depends upon whom you choose to believe. I have read countless books and articles on the man and can truly say that I’m as clueless now as I was before I had ever read one word about him.
Those who believe that he was bisexual or homosexual point to the fact that he once lived with a man, Rogers Brackett, and admitted to a relationship with him. However, those who insist that he was heterosexual point to the fact that this “relationship” made it easier for him to dodge the draft on the grounds of being homosexual.
I simply can’t say with absolute certainty who James Dean slept with! I do feel safe in saying that whomever he shared a bed with fascinated him much less than he did himself. Had he simply laid there, alone, he would’ve been just as aroused. He seems to have loved himself that much.
