Tragically, on the early morning of August 5, 1962, 36-year-old Marilyn died in her sleep at her Brentwood, California home. A lot of controversy surrounds her life, but even more surrounds her death.
As it had been when James Dean was killed in 1955, the world was absolutely stunned.
During her career, Marilyn made 30 films and left one, Something’s Got to Give, unfinished. She is a legend whose face is one of the most recognizable worldwide, even today. Her name is synonymous with sensuality and beauty.
The best thing about sites and blogs such as Hollywood Yesterday is the fact that they grant these stars immortality. The attention-craved Marilyn loved little more than to be looked at and admired.

In my opinon, she’s the most beautiful of the “Golden Age of Hollywood” actresses (well, let’s not forget Rita Hayworth). Marilyn looked just as beautiful in her pictures without makeup as she did when she was all glammed up.
It’s SUCH a tragedy that Marilyn died at 36. James Dean also died way too young.. but they’ll both always be remembered for their youth/beauty, because we never got the chance to see them “aged”.
Anyway, Marilyn is my favorite Hollywood actress – there’s no one out there like her right now, there never will be. The only I one I like anywhere NEAR as well is Scarlett Johansson.. she also exudes that “something”..
Thanks for this great blog spot here – it’s an awesome place to visit the Hollywood past!
