YESSSSSS!  This one has me totally excited.  They’re filming Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian.  I completely loved the first movie – it was a beautfiul, fun, entertaining, little feel good romp that had me smiling for days.

The release date is 22 May 2009, but since the movie is “in production,” that could always change. 

In the second movie, Amy Smart will star as Amelia Earhart who will, apparently serve as somewhat of a love interest for Ben Stiller’s character. Fortunately Dick Van Dyke and Owen Wilson will be back as well.  No sign of Robin Williams – hopefully his character’s off making happy time with Sacajawea.

Ben Stiller told FilmSchoolRejects that things will be bigger and better than ever. “We have a much broader palette, because it takes place at the Smithsonian, so there’s a bunch of different museums we get in and out of like the Air and Space Museum and the art galleries, we go into paintings and stuff. And then there’s just this incredible ensemble cast … we also have new people like Christopher Guest (Ivan the Terrible), and Hank Azaria (Kah Mun Rah), Amy Adams (Amelia Earhart). So it’s really been fun because it’s a lot less lonely than the first one.”

Easy there, Ben, I loved that first one.
