Robert Downey, Jr. – one of 2008’s biggest stars wit “Iron Man” (and Tropic Thunder) has signed on to appear in a second and third installment of Iron Man for Marvel Studios. And there’s more, she typed gleefully: Variety reports that Robert Downey, Jr. has also signed on for a film based on the superhero team The Avengers.

Marvel Studios has also announced the release date of May 7, 2010, for “Iron Man 2,” and an opening date of July 15, 2011, for “The Avengers.”

Oh, yeah, he can fly. And fly. And fly.
