My Best Friend’s Girl faces off at the box office against Lakeside Terrace, Igor, and Ghost Town. I don’t know why, exactly, but MBFG is the only one I really care about seeing. I’d been interested in Ghost Town until I read (more than one place) that the first half of the movie was the only funny or watchable part. I’m not interested in an early exit, so I think I’ll probably skip that one.

I’ve always loved Kate Hudson and Dane Cook is so hilarious it hurts, so there’s no way I’m missing their movie. Dane Cook was given a lot of freedom in this movie and was allowed to improvise a great deal. Given the fact that his standup routines are the funniest ever, I can’t help but think this movie will THRILL his fans. A few of us may even wet ourselves.

Hey, you never know.

In case you haven’t read about his rant on MySpace about the photoshopping done on the movie’s poster, below are a few highlights. Click on the poster (above) to see a larger version.

“Whoever photoshopped our poster must have done so at taser point with three minutes to fulfill their hostage takers’ deranged obligations.”

He said that it looked like he was “wearing Maybelline Water Shine Diamonds Liquid Lipstick,”, that his high collar was “going for the vampire lurking in the castle basement vibe,” and that he appeared “able to turn my head comfortably 360 degrees, because I was raised in an abandoned barn by a family of owls.”

He said that the photoshopping was an injustice to the movie because he and costars Hudson, Alec Baldwin and Jason Biggs “really kicked the funny around.”

* The movie is rated R for strong language and sexual content throughout, including graphic dialogue and some nudity.

Tuesday was kind of a rough day. A long, rough day. For all intents and purposes, it seemed to think it was not only a Monday, but the mother of all Mondays.

So I put my gown on early, made some hot apple cider and hit the couch. Hard. I noticed something I vaguely recognized on the arm of the couch. When I picked it up, it all came back to me. Sure enough – it was a remote control! With a family of 5, sometimes it’s weeks between sightings.

I looked through the guide and saw that a new series called Fringe on Fox was about 3 minutes away from premiering. I thought, “Why not?” and settled in.

I didn’t stay settled for long – this exciting and brilliant show had me on the edge of the couch for the entire ride. And what a ride it was! I haven’t been this excited about a premiere since LOST, which given the fact that Fringe was created by the same genius behind LOST, I guess it’s only right.

If you missed the premiere, fret not. Fox is, thankfully, one of those networks that’s smart enough to show encore presentations. You can see it this Sunday evening 8/7 c. I’ll be there re-watching every wonderful minute. It was that good.

I expect Fringe to meet with the same success LOST and House have enjoyed. The cast members will, I’m certain soon be household names, as well. You’ll be hearing them a lot – including during award shows.

Joshua Jackson plays the role of Peter Bishop and the BRILLIANT John Noble plays his eccentric father Dr. Walter Bishop. I hope Mr. Noble has plenty of room on his shelves, I have a feeling many, many awards will be coming his way. I can’t even begin to tell you how “lost” he gets in his character. The actor completely and totally disappears and it’s one of the most memorable performances I’ve seen in a long time.

Lovely Australian actress Anna Torv (pictured above) plays another one of the leading characters, Olivia Dunham. She’s believable, talented, and has a certain spark about her similar to Kate Hudson. I’m certain she’ll soon be as well known as Evangeline Lily and Jennifer Garner. Anna Torv – remember the name.

Joshua Jackson is already a familiar name (and face), but he’s on the “Fringe” of becomming a huge television star.

I could go into the what’s, where’s, when’s, and attempt the how’s (!!!), but I’d much rather you watch it unarmed the same way I did – you’ll enjoy it so much more if you don’t know what to expect. Remember, tune in Sunday night!

My youngest daughter, Stephany, has certain actors (Johnny Depp, and Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon) who she practically idolizes. I pointed out a picture of Robert Downey Jr. to her one day a few weeks ago and she smiled and said, “He’s a man beast.” The highest of praise, I’m guessing.

So, I’m going to have to go all out and call Fringe a TV beast. A beautiful, brilliant, fascinating beast. You know, I can think of few things that are any funner than sitting back and watching a great television show with your family. And when the shows are like LOST, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, and Fringe, you find yourself talking about them all week!

Thanks, Fox, with Fringe and Terminator, the Chronicles of Sarah Connor (another beast) – you’ve made the living room a really, really cool place to be again.

We all know that pictures of celebs are photoshopped and airbrushed to alarming degrees. But, they’re getting so carried away that it’s getting harder and harder to recognize them. Take Kate Hudson, for example – when I first saw it, I thought it was the Ice Queen in the first Chronicles of Narnia movie. I thought she was back to seek revenge on those who’d wronged her.

Nope. Turns out it’s the adorable Kate Hudson, who let’s be honest, needs no help from overly zealous “creative types.”

The funny thing is, a lot of the celebs, themselves, don’t appreciate the transformations. Dane Cook, for example, doesn’t like what was done to him on his newest movie poster. He has publicly asked for his acne scars back. He hasn’t even missed the scar on his eyebrow, yet – but when he does, I’m certain he’ll want it back, too.
