Jane Powell and Vic Damone
Rich, Young, and Pretty is a 1951 musical you really don’t often see on television – which explains why it isn’t as popular as many others who are fortunate enough to earn airtime. That’s something that can be so frustrating when you’re an old Hollywood fanatic – some movies you KNOW deserve more attention don’t get it simply because they aren’t given a chance.
Sigh. Thank goodness for Prime Video and other services like that that exist today. Most (not all) films can be found if you put forth a tiny bit of effort – even though, yes, they may cost a few dollars. When you’re serious about and discriminating with your entertainment, it is more than worth it.
Rich, Young, and Pretty was directed by Norman Taurog and stars my BELOVED Jane Powell (who was pregnant during filming), Vic Damone, Danielle Darrieux, Fernando Lamas, Wendell Corey, and Una Merkel.
You can find Rich, Young, and Pretty on Prime Video (I can’t tell you how many times a week I sing the praises of Prime). You can also find the Warner Brothers Archive Edition of Rich, Young, and Pretty (link to the dvd) on Amazon.
