Ida Lupino, The Light that Failed
I’ve always been fascinated with beauty – more specifically, what it is that make beautiful things… well… beautiful. My favorite beautiful things are those that are unique and original. Cookie cutter beauty is fine and good, but unique beauty – knocks my socks off.
Ida Lupino was a very unique beauty. Her face wasn’t just impossibly lovely – it was interesting. You can tell there is a lot… A LOT… going on behind those spectacular eyes. Ida Lupino was brilliant, strong, and had a very charismatic personality.
Just a pretty face? Anything but!
Today’s pictures of the day are from Ida’s film, The Light that Failed (1939, directed by William A. Wellman). The movie also stars Ronald Coleman, Muriel Angelus , and Walter Huston. The film can be almost impossible to find, but if you’re able to, be sure to check it out. If you’re able to find it on dvd, be sure to grab it – you’ll be way ahead of me… I can’t find it anywhere!
