Gone with the Wind Salt Pepper Shakers

Okay, Gone with the Wind Collectors, here are more great collectibles to add to your collection… and they’re adorable. The one above are the Gone with the Wind Rhett and Scarlett Salt & Pepper Shakers. The Gone with the Wind Rhett & Scarlett Salt and Pepper Shakers each stand approximately 3 3/4-inches tall.

The set below (I can’t even tell you how much I love it) is the Gone with the Wind Scarlett Mammy Salt and Pepper Shakers. Mammy, Rhett, and Prissy were three of my favorite Gone With the Wind characters, so I’m THRILLED to see Mammy in a set. Hmmmm, maybe I could buy both sets and use Rhett and Mammy?

Nah, wouldn’t work, he’d be putting the moves on my girl and she’s all business. The pair left would be hilarious, though – one Scarlett looking at the other, wondering what her deal is.

Gone with the Wind Mug Judging from the e-mail I get as well as the comments left on Hollywood Yesterday, there are LOTS of Gone With the Wind Collectors out there! I get a lot of requests for posts with Gone With the Wind figurines, dolls, mugs, glasses, posters, art prints, and even birdhouses (still working on that one!). In this post are some gorgeous Gone With the Wind glasses and mugs I’ve round up through a lot of searches. I’ll also be posting more Gone With the Wind collector’s products, so keep an eye out for those.

Enjoy!

I actually had the last one shown for years – right up until the dishwasher decided to smash it. Heartbreaking!  This one was a favorite because it showed my favorite Gone With the Wind character (and one of my favorite movie characters of all time) Mammy. LOVE her!  Below is the backside of this particular mug:

The Hollywood Legends Poster, above is a must have for those of us who collect vintage Hollywood memorabilia, art prints, posters, etc. Framed or unframed, this poster is really something else.

I know we have a lot of fellow Gone With the Wind fans and Gone With the Wind collectors who read Hollywood Yesterday, so I knew this Gone with the Wind Fleece Throw with Tin Canister would be a welcomed sight.

The gorgeous fleece throw comes with a matching Gone With the Wind tin canister – perfect for keeping candy, mints, or desk items in. I’m certain mine will hold chocolate covered coffee beans – a TOTAL addiction for this coffee fiend.

The Gone with the Wind Fleece Throw with a Tin Canister pays special tribute toe one of the most famous films ever made.  Gone with the Wind wass a 1939 film adapted from Margaret Mitchell’s 1936 novel of the same name, and was brilliantly directed by Victor Fleming.

The epic film, set in the American South in and around the time of the Civil War, starred Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Hattie McDaniel, Butterfly McQueen, Leslie Howard, and Olivia de Havilland, and tells a story of the Civil War and its aftermath from a white Southern viewpoint.

It received ten Academy Awards, a record that stood for twenty years.

Grab a set for yourself and one for someone on your Christmas list.  You do know Christmas will be here before we know it, right?!

See Gone with the Wind Fleece Throw with Tin Canister for a closer look.

Gorgeous!

Hollywood Yesterday has a lot of readers who are completely mad about Gone With the Wind collectibles.  I’ve always been a huge fan of the movie, myself.  I have named two (so far!) beloved pets after Gone With the Wind characters – a gorgeous German Shepherd (Scarlett) and a gorgeous cat who lived to be over 20 years old (Prissy).  Prissy, Rhett, and Mammy were my favorite Gone With the Wind characters.  In fact, if I could have dinner with ten characters from movies – these three would definitely be on the list.  I’d want Prissy right next to me, so I could just hug her the entire time.  What a doll!

That reminds me, a reader recently contacted me through e-mail asking about a particular Prissy figurine (apparently he loves her as much as I do!).  I’m afraid I STILL haven’t been able to find this particular  Gone With the Wind collectible.  So, I thought I’d appeal to the rest of the readers!  If anyone knows where the figurine titled PRISSY BY THE FENCE can be found, please let us know in the comments.  Thanks!!!

Without a doubt, Maureen O’Hara’s one of the most beautiful actresses ever. Absolutely stunning. The hair, the voice, the figure, the face – a place for everything and everything in its place.

I’ve said it before, and I’m bound to say it again – I wish actresses today would try to capture the magic, mystery, class, and sophistication that actresses yesterday possessed. A few, in my opinion, do (Keira Knightley, Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, and Reese Witherspoon to name a few.) But for the most part, they’re way too blatant and brassy.

There’s just something different about Maureen O’Hara, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, and Rita Hayworth. And that something different is very attractive.

To be sure, the same can be said about actors yesterday vs. actors today! There aren’t very many Clark Galbes, John Wyanes, Cary Grants, or Clint Eastwoods walking around today.

So many girl-y boys! If John Wayne walked through Hollywood today, he wouldn’t know whether to date or punch half the actors.

Eh, too much cranberry sauce – makes me mean.

Is that amazing work or what?! The mural above is on Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles, California. There’s something in the eyes that captures both James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor. Click HERE to see more murals featuring James Dean. Marilyn Monroe’s also featured on several.

While I’m thrilled to see my guy James on so many, I’m surprised there aren’t more with my favorite gals Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner and (of course) Lucille Ball. Oh well, at least James is featured heavily – and I spied Clark Gable on one, too. He’s another big favorite of mine. He’s one of the few actors from that period of time that seemed like a totally normal Joe. Little wonder he didn’t hang out off set much with Vivien Leigh – one of the most peculiar of ‘em all! Beautiful? Absolutely. Talented? Definitely. One of my favorite actresses? You betcha. But normal? Nah. Loonier than a bed bug.

There’s one of James Dean with W.C. Fields and a few others and there are two of them who I can’t identify for the life of me – and I usually know Hollywood inside out! The longer I stare at it, the further they get from me, though.

There’s a gorgeous mural from a McDonald’s in Eagle Rock, California too. Be sure to check that one out.

Oh great, now I’m McCraving a McChicken, McFries and a McDrink. I pretty much know what’s for lunch. :)
